In the film A Taste of Cherry, a man wants to kill himself, and he’s dug a hole, and he wants to pay another man to come there the next morning, see if the sleeping pills he’ll’ve taken have killed him, and cover him with earth if they have. He’s offering a lot of money for the job, enough so that a seminarian he asks to take it on wouldn’t then need to work over summer. If the pills don’t work, he will have wasted the money. If the pills work, how will he have spent it?
